Within my first few months in Umquano there came to be a friendly though fierce competition to be held in Caer Adwin.
Every faction of the village was represented; There were Kalenwalds, Iron Gaters, Black Cloaks, Order of the North Star, Ghost Warriors, and of course, Wolf Clan & Raven Clan.
Though I honestly believe that since the Raven Clan was relatively new to Umquano, we were overlooked as "REAL" contenders.
Well they sure saw the Raven Clan through new eyes after that day!
We shone much like the brightest star in an ink-black midnight sky!
Every member of the Raven Clan was in top form!
My personal accomplishments due in equal parts to the training from Brork Smyke, as well as my own style of fighting include two exceptional feats which were noticed by many:
FIRST; I won the fencing competition which was five matches of three falls each; I went undefeated!
SECOND; I won the sword & shield contest in which I was matched for the final against one of Iron Gate's best; Nikita, who was brought in as a ringer!
In the end it was proclaimed that the Maquisians had bested both the Iron Gaters & the Kalenwalds; but it is more accurate to say that it showed The Raven Clan to be a force of good that would not be subdued by somewhat evil legions!
